Bangkok Thailand

Queen Elizabeth may be the longest British reigning monarch but Queen Sirikit of Thailand is the world’s longest reigning queen, having presided over the Kingdom of Thailand in her royal role for over 60 years. We flew in to Bangkok on her 84th birthday and there were pictures of her everywhere and at different times during her reign:

They really love their queen.

What surprised me the most about the city was how world- class it is with the architecture and all the beautiful buildings in the city:

The condo, above, had small trees on almost all the balconies. They are big with their plants everywhere.

Our first full day was simply getting lost walking around and seeing all that the city had to offer. Bangkok is predominantly buddhist but there are many Hindu temples around as well as smaller shrines:

There is a river, the Chao phraya, that runs through the heart of Bangkok. What impressed us was how different the structures are along the hundreds of miles of canals know as khlongs:

The country has 67 million people and Bangkok, the capital, has 8 million. We're going to really love visiting this part of the world.
