My Galápagos Buddies

Not to get too technical (because even I will get bored) but Darwin and his theory of evolution included strong arguments with his research on the giant tortoises and finch birds on these islands. What we saw today at the Darwin Research station were tortoises over a hundred years old and weighing up to 900 lbs.


There are a lot of species we saw on the island today that I thought you'd like to see. There were three rather large Iguanas like this guy that was about 4 feet in length-

At the open air fish market where tuna and other fish were being cleaned and the refuge went to the sea lions like this one waiting for more-

And there were crabs called Sally Lightfoot crabs, named by an English seafarer as these guys could easily hop from rock to rock-

Tomorrow, we're off to Isla Seymour to see more species only found in the Galápagos.
